‘Quiz & Supper Evening’ – Feb 2026 (16)
This annual event is an excellent way for like-minded quizzers to enjoy an lovely evening and raise much needed funds for the orchestra. Setting the questions was Simon Raine ably assisted by wife Mysie and Sarah keeping the score.
The packed Ark at St. Laurence Church is an ideal venue for the social, which included a bar, a fish supper and a raffle.

‘Musical Inspirations’ concert – Dec 2025 (36)
An impressive audience size for our second concert of the season greeted the players at our home venue.
Producing the right balance of established works and offering fresh music can be a challenge each year but now celebrating our 30th anniversary, this concert seem to fit the bill. The orchestra is playing all of Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto’s this season, with No.2 & 4 being performed this evening. Add a touch of ‘Penny Lane’ by The Beatles, a lovely piece called ’Suite for the Recorder’ by Gordon Jacob and, to underline the festive period, Rimsky-Korsakov’s ‘Christmas Eve Suite’.
Continuing our programme of encouraging new talent, particularly with links to the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, another young musician, Mason Siu-Wai Ma, premiered and conducted his new composition ‘Earth – the Bestowal of the Universe’ to a great reception.
‘Heart of Fire’ concert – Oct 2025 (13)
Celebrating our 30th Anniversary, Nigel was the special guest conductor and soloist with many in Alvechurch recalling his time in the village before leaving for Lincolnshire almost 20 years ago.
The pre-concert reception for patrons, donors and sponsors preceded the four works beginning with Handel’s ‘Arrival of the Queen of Sheba and Mozart’s ‘Piano Concerto in A’ with Nigel performing on the piano. The remaining pieces, Haydn’s ’Symphony No.59’ and Bach’s ‘Brandenburg Concerto No.1’ came all too soon.
The latter is the first of all the Brandenburg’s being played through the season, an initiative by Shulah Oliver-Smith, the Artistic Director and orchestra’s lead.

‘The Worcester City Run’ – Sept 2025 (13)
TMS were represented at this annual event when our Artist Director, Shulah Oliver-Smith, laced up her trainers and with three other musicians, to raise much need funds.
